ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - In honor of National Cheese Day on June 4, NEWS10’s Cassie Hudson and Meteorologist Jill Szwed teamed up with an old friend to learn how to build a cheese board for summer. Amsterdam resident Brie Iannotti is the owner of The CharcuteBrie, a small business that creates custom cheese boards that appeal to both the eyes and taste buds. Charcuterie 101: Learning from a cheese board expert In 2021, the duo first met Iannotti when they got a "Charcuterie 101" lesson. When beginning a board, she likes to start with 3 different types of cheeses and 3 different types of meat. As you become more experienced she says, you can start to include more varieties of cheese beyond 3 types. Fruit, veggies, olives or pickles, crackers and nut mix are good additions to follow. She likes to end a board with a sweet treat sprinkled throughout. If you want to order one of The CharcuteBrie’s custom cheese boards for your next event, you can email Brie at thecharcutebrie@gmail...

We’ve faced more than our fair share of devastating attacks throughout the years, the most recent being the horrific attack at Club Q in Colorado Springs. These senseless tragedies cause irreparable harm to Colorado families and our communities. But in a country that too often settles for thoughts and prayers in the face of horrific gun violence,  Colorado stands apart as a state that takes common-sense action to save lives and protect our communities.Related ArticlesOpinion Columnists | Letters: Banning TikTok would be bad for Colorado small business owners like me Opinion Columnists | Fact check: Denver mayor candidate called a liar in latest campaign ad. Will Denver know who its next mayor is on election night?

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 08:57:08 GMT

Denver voters are turning in their runoff ballots at a rate that exceeds every mayoral election in the city since at least 2011.In an election that will name either Kelly Brough or Mike Johnston Denver’s first new mayor in a dozen years and decide the direction of the next City Council with three seats still up for grabs, officials are being careful not to read too much into what those strong early returns might signal. The priority on Tuesday night will be making sure all ballots turned in on Election Day are scanned as quickly as possible to let voters know they have been received, Denver Elections Division spokeswoman Lucille Wenegieme said. She expects counting itself to continue into Wednesday.“We’re ahead of the last few elections so the turnout is looking great right now,” Wenegieme said Friday. “But we won’t know for sure if we’re going to see another spike in volume or if we’re going to land middle of the road, but we’re getting them earlier, wh...

Each week, we will offer our opinions on the best that Colorado has to offer for dining, shopping, entertainment, outdoor activities and more. (We’ll also let you in on some hidden gems).Foodies seeking a deal are often relegated to late-afternoon happy hour specials, but those who can’t get out on the town early should add Postino Winecafe — which boasts five locations along the Front Range — to their bucket lists. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the wine-and-tapas joint offers patrons a bottle of vino and a bruschetta board for $25 – a steal of a deal that will fill two people up while leaving some extra pocket change for other sharable appetizers like olives and crispy cauliflower. The special runs from 8 p.m. to closing on both nights.I stumbled onto this deal accidentally one night when walking hungrily down Broadway and expecting to have to settle for fast food. Instead, I was delighted to find something de...

A new consumer-friendly outdoor trade show could be the start of something much, much bigger

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 08:57:08 GMT

Organizers of the Outdoor Retailer trade show roiled Colorado’s recreation, convention and tourism industry last year when they announced they were pulling the semiannual shows out of Denver and taking them back to Salt Lake City, despite threats of a boycott from some big-name companies over environmental concerns in Utah.Instead, Denver has a new outdoor trade show set to take place at the Colorado Convention Center next week, and it will have something Outdoor Retailer never did: an opportunity for the public to take an early look at the hiking, cycling, camping and paddle-sport gear that will be coming to stores next year — just like the industry insiders.State officials see even more though. They believe The Big Gear Show, which runs Thursday through Sunday alongside a sister show focused on e-bikes called (e)revolution, is a foundational piece of what eventually could be the South By Southwest of outdoor spectacles.“We’ve been talking and planning and schemin...

Shame! The Supreme Judicial Council will cut off Geshev's head while he is in Strasbourg for Barcelonagate

Two weeks after requesting the removal of immunity of Boyko Borisov and while he is in the process of releasing the SJC, Ivan Geshev will visit Strasbourg and will be heard by the European Parliament's legal committee, of which Elena Yoncheva, the whistleblower in Barcelona, is a member. The Chief Prosecutor is expected to provide details about the money laundering scheme in which he claims the former Prime Minister of Bulgaria is involved. Geshev has already requested Borisov's immunity be removed to accuse him of money laundering for the Barcelona house, but Borisov fearlessly stated that he would not give it and reached an agreement with Kiril Petkov, Asen Vasilev, and Hristo Ivanov to protect him with immunity in exchange for handing over all the power in the state. The Barcelona House scandal returns to Europe and the European Parliament! Two weeks after requesting the removal of Boyko Borisov's immunity and while being in the process of releasing the SJC, Ivan Geshev will visit ...

Many big companies, including Target and Bud Light's parent, are still backing Pride events in June despite the minefield that the monthlong celebration has become for some of them.Target and Bud Light recently came under fire for their efforts to appeal to the LGBTQ+ community, only to come under more fire when they tried to backpedal. But even as they battle the negative publicity, Target and Bud Light haven’t pulled away from this year’s Pride celebrations.
